“The ability to continue doing business with our customers based on their cybersecurity requirements is the number one benefit we’ve realized from working with Tigunia.”
Cesar Garza, VP of Quality and Compliance, WHI Global

The Challenge:

WHI Global is a leading aerospace manufacturer with multiple facilities across the United States, which means strict cybersecurity rules come with the territory. As a defense supplier, they must meet standards like NIST 800-171 and the tougher, evolving CMMC certification. That’s where VP of Quality and Compliance, Cesar Garza, stepped in to oversee these crucial initiatives.

At first, WHI leaned on self-assessments to check the compliance box. But when customers and regulators started demanding more detailed evidence, documentation, and IT modernization, it was clear the old approach wouldn’t cut it. At the same time, the company was weighed down by outdated servers, mounting technical debt, and different IT setups at each plant. Their defense contracts were at risk without a plan to modernize, standardize, and prove compliance.

The Solution:

WHI brought Tigunia on in 2022 as their managed services provider. Tigunia quickly consolidated IT across locations and began moving workloads into Azure cloud. They also flagged non-compliant, aging hardware and worked with WHI to build a clear roadmap for upgrades without disrupting day-to-day operations.

As CMMC requirements kicked in, Garza didn’t hesitate to expand Tigunia’s role. The same team that already keeps WHI’s systems running smoothly took on compliance support, monitoring security, evidence gathering, and working hand-in-hand with WHI’s compliance consultants. And they didn’t just do it remotely: Tigunia sent specialists onsite to each facility, overseeing upgrades and working directly with local teams. According to Garza, that boots-on-the-ground support made Tigunia feel less like a vendor and more like an extension of WHI’s own staff. Ultimately, Tigunia enabled WHI to streamline its IT environment, retire legacy systems, and create the policies and documentation required for certification audits.

The Result:

With Tigunia’s help, WHI shed outdated infrastructure, moved key systems into the cloud, and set up centralized monitoring that keeps every plant connected and secure. System uptime is no longer a worry; the only hiccups have come from local power or internet outages, not internal IT failures.

Even more critical, WHI has been able to stay on track with defense contracts by showing progress toward CMMC certification. Garza says the real difference has been Tigunia’s reliability and professionalism. When something comes up, they respond fast, escalate when needed, and see it through until the issue resolves. That trust allows WHI to focus on what they do best, manufacturing aerospace parts, while Tigunia takes care of the IT heavy lifting.

“We’re in the aerospace business, not IT. Tigunia gives us the confidence that our infrastructure and compliance are handled so that we can focus on our core work.”
